We are Orlando – Vigil in Jersey City (Photography)

Coming together for love and diversity, to not become victims of fear.

49 people were killed and 53 others were wounded by a lone gunman in a gay night club in Orlando, Fl. It was the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States. Two days later, more than 3,000 people gathered in a strip of Jersey City, NJ. “We are Orlando,” said a local gay activist Michael Billy, who served a master of ceremonies for the two-and-a-half-hour vigil. “We are black. We are Hispanic. We are Latino. We are gay. We are lesbian. We are bisexual. We are trans. We are Jersey City.” Vigils and community gathering were organized across the United States in solidarity for love and diversity.
