Creating ominous feel with no actual depiction of violence.
Thriller and horror movies today use weapons, blood, and act of violence to bring the audience to terror. In the time when Hitchcock was making his movies, the filmmakers were not allowed to do this because of the strict production codes. Nonetheless, he and his peers managed to create tension and suspense in the films with the use of precise compositions and editing of the shots. In this short piece, I wanted to explore creating an ominous mood just by focusing on the craft of filmmaking.
